Remembering Activism: The Cultural Memory of Protest in Europe

Research

ReAct follows three intersecting lines of inquiry:

  1. Mediation: how does the changing media landscape affect the ways in which protest is remembered?
  2. Memoryscapes of Protest: how has the memory of early resistance informed new movements?
  3. Afterlives of Protest: how have particular protest events been remembered and how does that memory change over time?

Each of these questions translates into particular case studies covering different time periods and relating to different European countries and their mutual entanglements. For details see People and Projects. All subprojects are being brought together in a common database supported by https://nodegoat.net/, which will be made accessible in due course.
