Both speakers are members of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and participated in the KNAW committee “Controversial Monuments”.  On October 23, 2023, the committee presented the report Wankele Sokkels. Omstreden Monumenten in de Openbare Ruimte (Unstable Pedestals. Contested Monuments in Public Spaces).
